A partial hysterectomy by definition is removal of the uterus. That said, if you have a partial hyst, you will have 0 chance of having a uterine prolapse because you will have no uterus. There is, however, a slight chance of intestinal and/or bladder prolapse occuring after a hysterectomy. This happens because the organs start to descend downwards, and can lead to such problems like constipation and/or urinary incontinence as well as pain during intercourse. Repair of the supporting structures can be done if this happens to help the patient, and it doesn’t happen in all women who have had a hyst.
Removal of the cervix alone is not a hysterectomy; it is called a trachelectomy. Trachelectomy removes the cervix and a small portion of the lower "neck" of the uterus. Vaginal, uterine and bladder prolapse do occur in a small percentage of women who have undergone trachelectomy, but again, this does not happen in the majority of cases and can be treated surgically if and when it does.

How do I stop getting bladder infections?

I get a bladder infection every time I take a bath. How do I stop this from happening? I take showers, usually, but I like the occasional bath.
As a child I got lots of bladder infections when I bathed. Was told to drink LOTS of water and cranberry juice. Also I believe yougart.
When doing kegel exercises, do you push down for your muscles to tighten or do you pull-in ?

I am pregnant with my second baby. I was a little worried about the looseness after the first one, but not worried enough to actually do anything about it. Now, I will probally be EXTREMLY loose after this one. I heard about these exercises but didnt know how to do them or if they actually work ?? Thanks.
Always pull in count to ten then release do this five times.You can do this while at a stop light or just watching TV. My doc told me to do after my first baby. It tightens the muscles back up and can actually make things a little more pleasurable. Try doing this at least twice a day for about a month and see if this helps. I would do this in the morning while on my way to work (tightening the muscles) then on my way home. No one ever had a clue as to what I was doing, but it did help. Also it helps with the birthing process, it prepares the muscles and makes it a little easier during contractions, at least it did for me. I have had three children and the exercises made a huge difference during my labor. Congrats on the new baby! May God Bless you and your baby greatly.

Not after the first few days. the first days following surgery, they can have a full bladder and not really feel it, as it is swollen in the region, and feels full all the time..but, if she is having problems beyond a few days post operative, she needs to see the vet. There are special dog foods for females that have incontinence after being spayed, but that normally helps with puppies that are spayed during infancy.
Your vet may be able to tell you why she is incontinent at this time. It may be as simple as a UTI.
