My betta nado keeps floating to the top. He seems to be doing better today after I changed his water and he is eating fine. What should i do?Is this a swim bladder infection?
Please help!
If when you see him swimming it gives you the idea that he has an uncontrollable air balloon inside. Most probably is a bladder problem, but doesn’t have to be an infection necessarily. Some foods have the ability to sometimes expand inside your fish’s intestine, making it hard for the bladder to function properly. This type of bladder problem should go away by itself somewhere in between a couple of hours to a day or two. If your fish shows lack of control when swimming, don’t feed him for 24 hours. Let his body get rid of what’s inside it. If it doesn’t get better in a day, try the Pea Method, you can google it, it’s very common. Also I’m not sure, but I’ve heard that bad water conditions can increase the chances of getting this problem, so keep the water clean. If you have a 1 gallon tank, 100% water changes should be done every 3 – 4 days.
If the problem repeats, try a different type of food. Good quality pellets are great since you can actually see how much you are feeding your fish, and won’t cause problems. If after fasting him (or she) the problem persists, then you can consider other sources like infection or deformity. Hopefully is just a minor thing that can get fix easily.
I hope this helps you at least a little, good luck.
I just started my dog on Temaril-P for a cough and today she leaked pee on her bed.. it was a very small amount, but still worried me. Is that normal with this drug? I’ve heard some people say yes since it contains a steroid.
Thanks for the copy and paste… lol
Yes, temaril- p is a combination of an antitussive, antihistamine and steroid. Steroids increase water consumption and therefore urination. It can also increase their appetite. Dont worry, just take her out for lots of potty breaks and she will go back to normal once she is off the steroids! Hope the cough is getting better!
…leaking because they were so full. How do I keep him from spoiling through the diaper onto the bed?
My son was born with bladder extrophe and has a similar problem. I use to have to put a plastic sheet over the bed at night and then he would sleep with a pull-up and a diaper over the pull-up. He has had surgery to correct the problem. What is his prognosis?
Works for guys as well as girls, and oh yeah…..you can definetly feel a vast difference in the lovins department.
My 21 mos old spayed shih tzu was just diagnosed with urinary incontinence. I believe her to have this condition for just under 2 months. When ever she jumps up or down from something I noticed she always stops to clean herself. After a while it got so you couldn’t just think she was being extra clean. My vet has put her on 1mg of Stilbestrol. 1 pill for 3 days then 1 pill, once a week. The licking has cut down noticeably but hasn’t totally quit. But then its only been 3 days of meds. Can anyone tell me how long it will take before I should really notice that these pills have done the trick. I will be taking her back to the vet in a month. I guess my real question is, will I notice results in a week? or 2 or should I go back to the vet earlier. Also does any one out there have another theory as to what it might be. In the urinalysis nothing showed up. A few chrystals but the urine was from 1st thing in the AM. Her dog food is Innova but another thing is that she sometimes sneeks the Low Protein food from my older dog. But shappreciatedet much. She isn’t asking to go out more. Not drinking more water either. Any info will be very much appriciated. Thank you
She is cleaning herself after jumping because the dog thinks that its going to get dirty from jumping. Especially if its outside.
i first saw the prolapse when i was 12, and ofcourse i was very scared to tell anyone, so i didnt, but i’m sure it is, now i refuse to go to a doctor about it because its not that big but im still very worried, so please can you help me ?
No, it is not common.
I started Cipro 500mg for a bladder infection yesterday. I took 1 tab yesterday afternoon, one in the evening, and one this morning. The foul odor of my urine cleared up by the time I went to bed last night, but I’m still experiencing frequency and cramping when I empty my bladder. The pain is diminished but still very uncomfortable. In the past I’ve had total pain relief after 12-18 hours. Am I expecting too much too soon?
Perhaps this was a more severe infection or it was caused by a different organism this time. It takes an antibiotic about 48 hours to reach it’s peak. Give it time and be sure to increase water intake to 3 liters.
what medocations are taken?
how bad are the chestpains?
I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse about 10 years ago. My cardiologist said that my particular problem was not life threatening. However, he advised me not to smoke or become overweight since this would put to much stress on my heart especially as I got older. This disease can progress to the point that you need valve replacement surgery.
I have chest pain, and my heart flutters a lot. I feel tired a lot, and weak.
My doctor did prescribe some medication, but I can’t remember what it was. I haven’t taken it in a long time. He said if my symptoms were unbearable, I could take the meds, but I didn’t have to.
I know that probably doesn’t help much. You can go to Google and find out more about it.
I was hit by a drunk driver while walking, my bladder was punctured and have suffered incontinence since. I try to control (hold it) my urges to urinate in hopes of strengthening the muscles. The connection between my brain and bladder has suffered as i also had a head injury to aid the puncture, so does anyone have good advice ? Please children, do not waste my time w/ ur foolish answers (get a life) !!
P.S. The wearing of diapers is OUT !
I don’t know about exercises, but you could wear those adult diapers just in case if you don’t have access to a bathroom and need it.
My cat has very strong smelling urine, She used my bed for her litter box and it had this really bad odor, I know what cat urine smelles like but this was different. What are symptoms of a bladder or kidney infection and what can I do to help her?
So far I want to thank everyone for the answers. I know I need to take her to a vet and I plan on doing so on Monday, I’m asking this question just for info.
AND BTW MY CAT IS FEMALE NOT MALE
Hi Nicky…generally, when cats inapropriately soil outside of the litterbox it is a sign if a feline lower urinary tract infection (FLUTD):
Symptoms of an UTI:
- bloody urine
- straining to urinate (can easily be mistaken for straining to defecate)
- urinating in unusual places
- urinary blockage (almost exclusively a male cat problem)
- licking the urinary opening (usually due to pain)
Here’s an article about Feline UTI which talks about blood in urine as well: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_feline_lower_urinary_tract_dis.html

Consider ringing your vet to have a urinalysis or blood work drawn to evaluate if she has a urinary infection as soon as possible.
