I am a 17 year old girl, and have urinary incontinence my doctor cant seem to think that this is the problem but i know that it is. I have had it for 2 years and have had enough of it now. It gets to the Point where i nearly wet myself and have to go to the toilet all the time. I have had all the tests done and have showed nothing so it has to be this. I was put on tablets to relax my bladder muscle but it made me worse. I have tried all the medicines and even tried exercises to strengthen my bladder muscles, and i know that if all else fails then i can have surgery.
but the problem with my doctor is that he keeps delaying it by running more tests and he referred me to aurologistt but i have to wait untill Februaryy and i cant wait that long as am getting worse.
what treatments can i use at home and how i can tell my doctor about tpossibilityity of doing surgery and getting it sorted ASAP asdon’tont wont it keep ruining my life anymore anddon’tont to wait any longer.
please help, just want my life back
I dont want wait untill February to see the specialist and this is affecting my life loads as cant even go out because of this, so need to know how i can get my doctor to get this sorted ASAP.
also no piont in carrying on with the other treatments as they are not working, and have not been working for 2 years, am just getting worse
At seventeen it is not unheard of, however it is not normal. In addition to urology, you should be followed by neurology and ob/gyn to try to find whatever is causing your incontinence.
Speaking from experience, you can still have a life! Don’t let it slow you down, just learn to manage it. You can use timed voiding, Kegel exercises (must be done regularly to work), diapers (personal choice, but better than being wet), and medications in combination with each other.
Whenever you void, don’t just go. Practice trying to start and stop the flow, as many times as you can. This will help.
I know you are frustrated, goodness I do; but hang in there. You are not alone, there are many people who have the same problem, if not worse. Keep up with your doctors, keep trying to do exercise and try different combinations of the suggestions above to see what works best.
Cheers
