I am planning to get a german shepherd puppy and need to know how long it will be able to hold its bladder because i go to school for six hours a day.
It really depends on how old the puppy is and there is also variance between individuals – same as human toddlers. You should be able to expect a couple of hours during the day at 7 to 8 weeks of age, and some will even hold on for 6 hours. I would crate it with a thick liner of newspapers in the bottom, as crate training them helps with toilet training. They are more likely to hold on in their crate than if left out. If you don’t have a crate or can’t afford one, lock your puppy up in a small room like bathroom, porch, wash-house or shower, with some newspaper in a corner so it can relieve itself if it needs to. Helps if you collect some urine and put it on the paper so it smells of its urine and will go back to the same area. Hopefully your breeder will have done some toilet training already, so ask for their advice.

Can ben wa balls help with urinary incontinence?
30 Jul 2010
Sorry, I do not know what your question means
my dog is having bowel and urinary incontinence after being spayed; is this a bad complication, or normal?
28 Jul 2010
15 week old terrier mix; she had her spay 2 days ago. Since then, every time I take her out to pee or poo (which she has been going), she will then go again within 15-20 minuets of having come back in. Is this a normal reaction to surgery, or a complication? If it is the urinary spay incontinence problem, is that treatable (I’ve been getting some mixed info on that one)?
Personnaly i would contact your vet and ask them if anything went wrong with ther surgery and explain what is happening now!
However, there are several different defined causes of incontinence, each with their own recommended course of treatment. Estrogen responsive incontinence, commonly called spay incontinence, is the most frequent cause of involuntary urination in female dogs. It can occur anywhere from immediately after spaying up to ten years later, with the average age of onset being around three years. Urinary incontinance can also be caused by bacterial infections, trauma resulting in nerve damage, and anatomical defects.
Fecal incontinance will usually be the result of trauma causing paralysis of the sphincter muscles, megacolon, which generally occurs in cats, though dogs can experience this condition, and in animals that experience irritable bowl syndrome.
Medical Management
Treatment of incontinence is normally managed medically, with drugs and dietary changes. There are many different medications on the market today aimed at relieving the symptoms of incontinence with the choice being fully dependant on the underlying cause.
Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) is a decongestant that helps to tighten the sphincter muscles and is the most commonly used treatment for urinary incontinence in both male and female dogs today. Many dogs are started on a PPA regimen in the beginning, with the success rate being about 50%.
Bulking products such as fiber supplements as well as dietary changes to a prescription diet high in fiber will be prescribed for aniamls with IBD and megacolon, as well as manual stimulation. Dogs that experienced trauma affecting the nerves that control defecation will normally not be able to benefit from medical management and will require surgical intervention.
Urinary Question about Incontinence?
27 Jul 2010
I was reading up on urinary incontinence. Can anyone please answer these two questions:
How does a bladder muscle become inactive?
What exactly is a inactive bladder muscle?
Sorry to hear that 1st responder. I hope it works out well for you! ![]()
But HOW does the muscle become weak? Is there anyway to make it strong again without surgery?
The bladder has a muscle called the detrusor which controls it. This like any other muscle can become weak.
You can retrain your bladder to some extent by trying to hold your urge longer and longer. This would be unhealthy to do if you have no problem in your bladder but may be necessary if you’re having accidents or have an increase in frequency.
Pelvic floor exercises are also vital for this and weak pelvic floor exercises can result in a bladder prolapse as the other responder has had surgery for, a common type of surgery for this is TVT in women. (Trans vaginal taping).
There are different types of urinary incontinence which I’m sure you have discovered and there are many different causes, sadly this weakness often simply comes with age.
Do most people with mitral valve prolapse have depression and anxiety disorders? How many are bi polar?
20 Jul 2010
I have MVP and was wondering what my chances are for having depression and anxiety. I show many symptoms and sometimes don’t talk i’m so sad. I worry way to much and find it very hard to talk to people i don’t know very well. I’m scared to take medicine.
I’m pretty sure i’m not bi polar but what about the other things?
MVP has been linked to anxiety disorders and panic attacks not Bi-polar. I have attached some website that may help you understand the disorder and symptoms.
Incontinence as in having two or more accidents every day?
Yep.
I have a son in the Autism Spectrum as well, he wasn’t 100% potty trained until he was almost 12.
Hang in there and best of luck.
How do I stop urinary incontinence?
14 Jul 2010
Urinary incontinence has been bothering me for the past several years, and I am having a lot of trouble getting rid of it. It’s the kind that they call stress incontinence- the one that acts up when you laugh, cough, sneeze, etc. I have gone above and beyond with those Kegel exercises, and they have helped to reduce my symptoms but the problem is still there. It’s been preventing me from going swimming and doing a lot of other things I like to do. Does anyone know another way to make the problem go away?
Note: For personal reasons, going to a doctor is not an option.
I totally agree with Petro:you should see a Dr he can help you and we can’t
We are no Dr’s here

I can’t seem to find any places with answers. But I know that with a converter, you can replace it with an ink cartridge, but what about a fountain pen with an ink bladder (aka ink sac)? Can I remove the ink bladder, and replace it with an ink cartridge?
no, you cannot remove the bladder and replace it with a cartridge.
i am a male going throught puberty and am just wondering.
I’ve never heard of anyone having that problem just from going through puberty.
If it’s a guy having that problem, they should have their prostrate checked right away, because it can be a symptom of prostate cancer or some other serious condition, it happened to one of my friends who was only 16.
Do kegel exercises really work for anyone?
02 Jul 2010
Has anyone here ever tried them and they worked? What were your results after doing them for a while?
Yes they do work. But a person has to be vigilant and do them for a while (months) to be effective, you can’t just do them for a couple days and expect miracles.
