I’m distraught. I’m a femme – soon to be 28yrs old, however within the past month or so have developed urinary stress incontinence. I believe it’s minor – probably could be worse, but I’ve got tons of other things, including medical, that I’m already dealing with.

I have never been sexually active and thus have never borne children…and while I am not skinny, but a little on the curvy side, I am not obese. I know that these are things that bring on USI, as well as menopause, but I am not yet even 30 and have certainly not had kids, which I guess tends to be the number one reason this thing happens. My doc is also unsure as to why I would be having this problem, seeing as I do not fit into the scheme.

Any advice, aside from kegels? Because I seriously have a difficult sort of time figuring those out and it worries me that because of this, I won’t be able to get past this. If there is something else that I can do that will indirectly help… Is it true that sit-ups would help? I’d really appreciate any helpful advice. Thank you.

You want advice "aside from Kegels"?

So you know that pelvic floor exercises – attributed to Kegel – are the important means of reducing the problem you describe, but you want something *else* instead?

That’s pretty silly, isn’t it?

Actually, there’s nothing to figure.

Put one finger in your vagina. Just one. Squeeze it with your vaginal muscles. See how easy – or in fact difficult – it is. See how long you can squeeze it – how hard you can squeeze just one finger – can you hold it squeezed for a whole five seconds? (No, you can’t!)

OK, next practice squeezing it without tensing any other area that you can see or feel. Of course, it squeezes your anus shut as well but actually you can squeeze one more than the other and focus on that.

So, when you have that worked out, you can now squeeze just the right part *without* your finger inside – you just have to know you are squeezing the right thing, and that only. You practice holding it for a full five seconds – or as near as you can – and resting for a similar period.

Now that is one squeeze. You practice these in "sets" of ten to start with.

You aim to start doing six sets each day, spaced through the day, without fail. (No need to take days off, it’s hardly difficult to do them – you can do them in public, no-one can see, and you can do them driving etc.)

To remember, there are two methods recommended (and you can use both together). First is that you make up a chart with 8 columns across and seven down. Each "cell" you further divide into six – that’s the six (minimum) sets a day which you tick off when completed. The main columns (after the first) are M T W T F S S and the main rows (after the first) are labelled 10 15 20 30 40 50 – they are the number of squeezes per set.

The second method is to buy a card of "red dots" from the stationery. You put these in places where you stand for a minute throughout the day. No-one else knows what they mean (unless they do Kegels/ PFEs) but each time you see one, you start a set.

At the end of the six weeks (or any time you get curious) you test again with the finger – how hard, how long?

Now is that difficult, or what?

i had a bichon frise for most of my life, and he always went pee a lot and pee’d a lot in the house and at innapropriate times, and it was always small puddles or when he was mad at us, now my new dog, lilly, was a rescued dog. the vet said she is about 3-4 years old, she was abused badly and is comfortable around me and my boyfriend now after having her for a year, but she pee’s so much! she hasnt been fixed, and i dont intend on getting her fixed at this point in her life i think it will only traumatize her more and i dont want to put her through that, so the bleeding i can deal with and the peeing i can deal with. she is a little overweight and she is generally a peppy dog. she gets nervous a lot, being that she has a little chihuahua in her. she has always pee’d in the house ever since we got her and we have trained her to go outside without her leash now so we let her out a lot. but if we were to let her out as much as she pee’d we would be getting up every 15 minutes to let her out to pee a dime sized spot. it is ruining my carpet and making my house smell HORRIBLE. i just used a rug doctor last month and already my house stinks of pee. i have been noticing that since she has been in heat she has been peeing in smaller amounts and she will move to different spots to pee like the same sized pee spots but in different areas of the house. she doesnt seem to act hurt or as if she is in any pain. she pants a lot and she drinks a fair amount of water. i was just wondering if this behavior is normal, she just seems so like tense and under stress like she is never able to calm down, i just dont know since ive never had a pomeranian before, i am sure it is normal for a dog in heat and a dog who has been abused before, but i just dont know what to do, i dont want to punish her because she is scared enough, so i just tell her bad and clap and tell her o go outside, i guess my question is, is this normal behavior for a smaller dog or even a female dog in heat? to act high strung and pee? she doesnt seem sick or in pain or anything like that, she is completely normal, given the normal that i know her to be, minus the peeing so much. she always pees a lot but its so much more right now and very hard to keep up with, and my second question is what is a GREAT EXCELLENT way to get the urine smells and stains out of my carpet. i have tried EVERY cleaner on the market and to no avail have i found one that works amazingly. third question, is there any cheaper supplements i could give her if she has a urinary tract infection or even urinary incontinence that would clear up any infection? i dont want to give her antibiotics even if it is one because those cause more harm than good id rather give her something to drink or eat or even a vitamin that could clear it up. any advise would be appreciated!

Please use paragraphs. That wall of text is hard to read.

Take a specimen of the dog’s urine to the vet. She may have a urinary tract infection.

Urinary incontinence has been bothering me for the past several years, and I am having a lot of trouble getting rid of it. It’s the kind that they call stress incontinence- the one that acts up when you laugh, cough, sneeze, etc. I have gone above and beyond with those Kegel exercises, and they have helped to reduce my symptoms but the problem is still there. It’s been preventing me from going swimming and doing a lot of other things I like to do. Does anyone know another way to make the problem go away?

Note: For personal reasons, going to a doctor is not an option.

I totally agree with Petro:you should see a Dr he can help you and we can’t

Hi Ladies….. now I don’t want any rude remarks so please if you”re going to answer stick to my question and be nice. So I just found out I’m pregnant a few weeks ago, my husbands in the military and I wasn’t completely set up in tricare(my insurance) until just this morning and I won’t be seeing the ob for another week or so because all my paper work needs to go through. I wanted to know how I should address my concerns to the OB though.

For one, I am very very nervous about the delivery. I want to opt for a c-section, I know some of you may not agree with it and that’s fine, I don’t want your opinion if I should or shouldn’t get one, if the doctor sees fit that I can give birth naturally then so be it, I would be fine withit but right now I really wanan opt for a c-section. I have a few reasons, number 1, I have heard that labor pain is just like really bad cramps, the only thing with that is that when I am on my menstrual cycle and have cramps I faint everytime because the pain is so horrible to me, I get extremely confused on where I am, I faint, I wake up and my body just trembles in pain, and I can’t feel normal until I fall asleep and sometimes this lasts days. And I don’t wanna put myself through stress during the delivery and end up hurting the baby any way.

My second reasoning is I have heard that you can avoid urinary incontinence if you have a csection, all of my aunts and mom and 2 of my cousins that have all given birth vaginally all have it and suffer from it, I on the other hand, if I can avoid it would really really want too.

Also, my husband was an 11lb baby and I’m scared out of my wits that the baby is going to be 9lbs or more and I just wont be able to get it through me and they might end up doing a csection anyways. Also if it could what if I get severe tears.

I do have a couple other reasoning that I will talk to my doctor about because they are more personal but how do I bring it up to the doctor that this is something I am really considering. trust me I have done my fair share of research and I know the consequences of it I know it’s major surgery, I have heard it all, I just wanna know how I bring this up to my doctor and how I can tell her that this is something I am really concerned about??

Again, please no rude remarks. Thanks.

Tricare won’t fully cover an elective C-section so unless you all are planning to pay out of pocket then you won’t get one. I had a medically necessary one and was covered(husband is in military too), but check this out from their site:

"TRICARE covers cesarean sections when medically necessary. Following a cesarean section, the mother and child’s stay in the hospital must be at least 96 hours. TRICARE’s coverage of elective cesarean sections (those done at the request or convenience of the beneficiary) is limited to what would have been provided for a vaginal delivery, and the beneficiary will be responsible for any excess amount."

I’ll also add that both myself and my husband were 10 lb. babies but our son came out(at 39 weeks) weighing just over 7 lbs. so you cannot always count on genetics playing a big role in your baby’s size.

You can certainly bring all these concerns up with your doctor but, like I said, it really comes down to the insurance company and how much you’re willing to pay yourself(my total hospital stay was well over 17000)…

Yes, and I have it as well. Ask your doctor, they have many things they can do for incontinence. For me, I simply wear maxi pads or Poise Pads. But there is surgery that they can do on you, if you really want to, ask them about it.

Could past emotional trauma be causing it? I went through a period of severe depression a couple years ago (when I was 16), which is when I first started wetting the bed and having to go so urgently that I would wet my pants on the way home from school and stuff. After I stopped being depressed, it wasn’t really a problem anymore except that I’ve had to go more frequently ever since. But now, lately, I’ve started wetting my pants again. It’s like as soon as I feel like I have to pee, I immediately have to go. There’s no waiting time. I’m not depressed or stressed or anything right now though. Could it be an infection? I’m not feeling itchy at all. Would medication help, or is it something that requires a surgery or something?
I don’t think I have a UTI since I have a friend who gets them and describes the feeling as constantly having to pee, whereas with me I don’t have to go at all then then all the sudden I have to really badly. Also, I don’t think it’s an STD since I’ve only every slept with one person and I’m still with him now, and he has only been with me.
I made a whole new Yahoo Answers account just to ask this question. It’s so embarrassing. It’s hard to find your self esteem when stuff like this happens. The other day, as soon as I stepped out of the car to talk to the manager of a store about potential employment, I wet my pants and obviously couldn’t go.

It needs kagel exercises more than anything. Could be trauma, but I would not focus on that, or want to go there at all. It seems more physical, as described. I would consider UTI, or perhaps STD, though you may not like that – you did not ask for it NOT to be included. A cold in the kidneys or bladder infection might do it. A common denominator needed is also an antibiotic; other meds as required.

Help!! I need help because when i masturbate i have this big problem. I was born with spina bifida and i use cathethers to go pee with them. I get frequent urinary tract infections because of that. During masturbation i get this yellow liquid that smells like fish with a white slimy substance. It is not mixed in it is separate from each other. I have stress and urge incontinence because of spina bifida. Is this my pee or cum? I just want to know how can i treat this problem if its my pee because i dont want to be peeing. I also want to know if its an yeast infection, bladder infection, or something else.

only thing to do is talk to your gyno and urologist. They can help you better then anyone else can. However, a lot of us with sb will urinate during any type of stimulation.
