My age is 40. Ten yrs back, I have done hysterectomy. After that, I often get severe pain in the operated area. I have, urinary incontinence also for the last 2 yrs. Now I’m suffering with, low back pain and knee pain. I don’t know, what could be the problem. Pls, any one help me.

I can’t imagine that the low back pain and the knee pain are related to the urinary incontinence or the hysterectomy.

Well, I did just think of a possibility. Are you overweight? People who are overweight are more likely to have urinary incontinence, back problems, and knee problems. So, if you are, I would work on losing weight. Eat a healthy diet and exercise. If you’re having pain, you probably want to exercise in a pool to keep pressure off your joints.

I was reading up on urinary incontinence. Can anyone please answer these two questions:
How does a bladder muscle become inactive?
What exactly is a inactive bladder muscle?

But HOW does the muscle become weak? Is there anyway to make it strong again without surgery?

The bladder has a muscle called the detrusor which controls it. This like any other muscle can become weak.

You can retrain your bladder to some extent by trying to hold your urge longer and longer. This would be unhealthy to do if you have no problem in your bladder but may be necessary if you’re having accidents or have an increase in frequency.

Pelvic floor exercises are also vital for this and weak pelvic floor exercises can result in a bladder prolapse as the other responder has had surgery for, a common type of surgery for this is TVT in women. (Trans vaginal taping).

There are different types of urinary incontinence which I’m sure you have discovered and there are many different causes, sadly this weakness often simply comes with age.

Incontinence as in having two or more accidents every day?

I have a son in the Autism Spectrum as well, he wasn’t 100% potty trained until he was almost 12.

i am a male going throught puberty and am just wondering.

I’ve never heard of anyone having that problem just from going through puberty.

If it’s a guy having that problem, they should have their prostrate checked right away, because it can be a symptom of prostate cancer or some other serious condition, it happened to one of my friends who was only 16.

they did the test on him and something about specific gravity. Can’t he just be lazy and not peeing outside enough be the reason for his accidents in the house?

If he’s a twelve year old boxer/shepherd mix, then he’s probably at the end of his life right now. When animals are that far along in life, I’m pretty sure it’s normal for them to lose control of their bladder.

He has been having involuntary accidents. Before I take him to the doctor I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions to try or ideas of what could be going on with him.

The first question I have is: Is this a new problem or has it been ongoing for some time?

The person to whom you should address the answer is of course his pediatrician. If the problem is new, also make a list of changes in your son’s life in the months just before.

Any new friends? Any old friends move away? Any new school or grade change?

Keep a potty diary for your son, or better yet, teach him to keep one. Just write the time, #1 or #2, and whether or not he actually made it to toilet (such as "1pm, #1, yes"). Very basic, very simple, but a way to keep track. This may be helpful to his doctor, too.

Often, changes are the biggest cause. It could be a good change, or a negative change. An old friend leaving, problems with family, etc. Other possible causes are infections, such as UTI’s, though these are really more common in girls than boys. I must mention that abuse is also always a possibility, but handle that subject carefully.

Anyway, these are just a few ramblings on the topic; but he really needs a good evaluation to determine the cause.

Want to rid myself of urinary incontinence, what can I do to help me get rid of this?
I don’t think that my bladder completely get empty because if i sit on the toilet for a moment after i urinate..more urine will flow down….

having children weakens the supporting structures of the uterus and bladder in some women. what u ca do is kegel exercises and do them faithfully. If after several months you still have this, then I would go to ur gyno and speak to hm or her. They will suggest kegel exercises and probably prescription med to relieve an overactive bladder. so be prepared. But ultimately, if you have finished having had children I would inquire about surgery to fix this

Does anyone have any idea what could cause uriniary and gas incontinence? The urinary incontinence isn’t very bad, a little dribbling throughout the day. The gas incontinence is more concerning and not like normal flatulence. I have no idea when it occurs and it’s worse in stressful situations. Specialists say my anal sphincter strength is normal, even too tight. There may be some evidence of spasming. Could spasming of pelvic floor muscles or something like that cause these two symptoms? Thanks for any help.

You can strengthen your pelvic floor by doing kegal exercises, as you probably know. I learned them when I took up Pliates. They are essential for doing any Pilates exercise.

Actually, it sounds like you may need to relax. Perhaps Yoga or Pilates would be helpful.

What can you do to help strengthen the bladder or what non prescription medicine can help with strengthening your bladder??
